I just wanted to write a quick blog about the recent Womens Only Open Mat at Basingstoke School of Martial Arts. The event on the 10th of April saw women from all over the south of England meet up for a couple of hours of rolling. It was great to see some friends and new faces enjoy the time we had doing Jiu Jitsu. There was about 17 women from different academies showing their support for the UKBJJA's 'Unstoppable Girl' campaign.
Thanks to the girls that travelled from Andy Roberts Academy and from training centres in London. It was great to roll and test our skills against some tough Blue Belts adults and also help out those that have only recently started on their BJJ journeys.
It is interesting to hear how other the girls got involved in Jiu Jitsu. It's normally because someone in their family or their partner started training or that they moved from another martial arts into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Thanks also to Still Mad photography who took some great pictures of the day! We hope to see all of you again soon on the mats.
